ELEPHANT EPIC 2020
SUPPORTING WILDLIFE CONSERVATION IN ZAMBIA
RIDE FOR WILDLIFE
The Elephant Epic is now in its 9th year, and whilst it hosts a fantastic mountain biking opportunity, it was established with the aim to raise awareness and essential funds for wildlife conservation in Zambia. This year all funds raised will support wildlife conservation through Game Rangers International and Conservation Lower Zambezi, to support the frontline rangers who risk their lives daily to save Zambia’s incredible wildlife.
2019 saw a record 186 cyclists start the race with over 230 people at the finish! The whole event is pulled together through a bunch of dedicated volunteers and lots of very kind donations.
In 2020 the world has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and that is having a disastrous impact on our wildlife. As economies suffer there are less resources available to support wildlife at a time where there is in increasing peril, when people are becoming more desperate and poaching is on the rise.
So the Elephant EPIC’s fundraising mission is more critical than ever before! We need your help to keep these incredible animals safe.

Game Rangers International (GRI) is a non-profit organisation established in Zambia in 2008. GRI works in close partnership with the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) to empower Rangers and Local Communities to conserve nature. We embrace a holistic approach to conservation, and empower Rangers across three core thematic areas: Resource Protection, Community Outreach and Wildlife Rescue.
Conservation Lower Zambezi (CLZ) is a non-governmental organisation committed to the protection of wildlife and to the sustainable use of natural resources in the Lower Zambezi, Zambia. Established in 1994, CLZ’s mission focuses on three main pillars of support: Wildlife Protection, Environmental Education and Community Empowerment all working towards a mission of “A valued, protected and thriving Lower Zambezi landscape”. The organisation works in collaboration with Zambia’s local wildlife authority – the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) for over 25 years to ensure the sustainability of species in the Lower Zambezi and their ecosystems.
The Department of National Parks & Wildlife (DNPW) is mandated under the Zambia Wildlife Act No. 12 of 1998 to manage and conserve Zambia’s wildlife, which covers 31 percent of the country’s land mass. DNPW endeavours to integrate the wildlife policy with economic, environmental and social policies to ensure effective contribution to sustainable national development.
