Lani was found in a forest by community members of the Fungulani village.  She had been separated from her herd.  After being spotted, she was closely observed with the hope that her mother or herd would return for her but after some time, it was apparent that Lani was alone, and her herd had moved on.
 
Lani, by Little Ndaba has a yellow circle on her cheek.  When she was young, a wound on her cheek was treated using turmeric, a bright yellow stripe.
