​You will then travel deep into Kafue National Park, one of Africa’s largest and most biodiverse landscapes, to visit our Primate Transit Home and witness the process of rehabilitation and release for primates rescued from the illegal pet trade. In addition to this exclusive experience, your stay at the jaw-dropping Ila Lodge will more than satisfy your luxury safari experience.  

 

Your next stop will be in South Kafue National Park hosted on the shoreline of Lake Itezhi-Tezhi by Konkamoya Lodge, to experience the best of Italian cuisine and hospitality in the African bush. From this exquisite base, you will visit the GRI Field Headquarters to understand the essential role of rangers across the landscape, and then continue to the Elephant Release Facility where you will see the orphaned elephants in their final phase of rehabilitation as they take their steps back into the wild. 

 

This experience will culminate with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take part in wild elephant tracking to find now wild-orphan Chamilandu and her history-making calf, who was born truly wild, unassisted, and free. This is conservation at its most profound - and YOU can be part of it.

 

Throughout this experience you will be escorted by GRI senior personnel to ensure deep insights into wildlife conservation and an authentic Zambian experience.  The Greater Kafue Landscape is one of the biggest in Africa and offers a wide variety of terrains and species to discover - not to mention the birdlife, which is prolific. Walking with the orphaned elephants and safari drives are just a selection of the activities included in this once in a lifetime conservation experience.

• Meals: are included at Ila Lodge and Konkamoya Lodge. Meals at Lilayi Lodge and Latitude 15° are not included.

• Drinks: alcoholic and non-alcoholic bar drinks are not included. Teas, coffees, and soft drinks are complimentary at Ila and Konkamoya.

• National Park fees: are not included.

• Accommodation: all overnight accommodation is included. Two nights at Lilayi Lodge, one night in Latitude 15° (Lusaka), one night in Ila Lodge and two nights at Konkamoya Lodge (Kafue National Park). Extensions to the tour can be arranged at additional cost.

• Flights: international flights into Zambia are not included. The opportunity to join a GRI aerial surveillance flight in Kafue National Park can be arranged at an additional cost.

• Transfers: all transfers by road vehicle are included. Air transfers are available at additional cost.
