LOT 2: CONSERVATION IN ACTION

An authentic, immersive 8-day experience for 2 guests, Zambia

Join Game Rangers International (GRI) on a unique seven-day experience for two people from Lusaka to Kafue National Park, immersing yourself in the vital work being done to protect wildlife and wild spaces through ranger empowerment, community engagement, and wildlife rescue. An immersive expedition with the teams who dedicate their lives to the cause.

Your adventure begins in Lusaka, where you will stay onsite at the Wildlife Discovery Centre and Elephant Nursery in Lusaka National Park. Here you will meet the animal caregivers, join a morning elephant walk, learn about the primates in care, witness GRI’s education and rehabilitation initiatives in action and take a drive to look for wildlife including giraffe, wildebeest and white rhino. You will stay in our tented bush camp and eat with the team.

You will then travel deep into Kafue National Park, one of Africa’s largest and most biodiverse landscapes to visit our Primate Transit Home and witness the process of rehabilitation and release for primate rescued from the illegal pet trade whilst helping with daily animal husbandry and observation data collection. You will help pitch your tent, make a log fire and cook alongside this remarkable team.

Your next stop will be in South Kafue National Park hosted on the shoreline of Lake Itezhi-Tezhi at the GRI Field Headquarters. While staying in camp, you will hear directly from the rangers who protect this landscape — learning about their daily realities, the risks they face, and the challenges of safeguarding wildlife. You will also have the opportunity to visit nearby community projects.

Finally, you will head to the iconic Elephant Release Facility where you will see the orphaned elephants in their final phase of rehabilitation as they take their steps back into the wild. You will assist with husbandry and join our research team with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take part in wild elephant tracking to find now wild-orphan Chamilandu and her history-making calf, who was born truly wild, unassisted, and free. This is conservation at its most profound – and YOU can be part of it.

Throughout this experience you will be escorted by GRI personnel to ensure deep insights into wildlife conservation and a truly authentic Zambian experience as you stay with us in our bush camps, cooking and eating together and sharing stories by the campfire.  The Greater Kafue Landscape is one of the biggest in Africa and offers a wide variety of terrains and species to discover - not to mention the birdlife, which is prolific. Full immersion into wildlife viewing, exploring the wild spaces and meeting the people who call this land home will create incredible memories for a lifetime!

Hosted by the rangers who call this landscape home, you will experience conservation as they live it. Their knowledge and daily commitment to protecting wildlife offer an extraordinary, intimate look at the realities of frontline conservation. This is a rare chance to learn directly from the people who hold Zambia’s wilderness in their hands.
